Every new TVO employee is required to undergo site entry training, induction training and job training relevant to his or her position. Between 2005 and 2010 more than 20,000 people received site induction training. Staff members that are motivated by their jobs, professionally skilled and competent ensure the safe operation of a nuclear power plant.
At the end of 2009, TVO had 717 regular and 80 fixed-term employees. Annual maintenance outages and other sub-contracted work employ a further 1,000 people or so every year. TVO also employs more than 150 trainees and summer interns every year.
