Description

The  VR-1  training  nuclear  reactor  is  a  research  nuclear  facility  particularly  used  for  training  and  teaching  university  students  and  nuclear  power  plant  personnel.  Important  parts  of  the  VR-1  reactor  operation  are  information  services  and  promotional  activities  in  the  field  of  nuclear  literacy.  Every  year,  more  than  1200  visitors,  mainly  high  school  students,  come  to  the  reactor  too.  The  reactor  staff  prepares  an  attractive  program,  including  details  of  reactor  operation.  Radiation  protection  of  staff,  external  workers,  students,  and  other  visitors  is  a  priority  concern  at  the  VR-1  reactor.  The  sophisticated  system  of  both  technical  equipment  and  qualified  staff  guarantees  low  occupational  and  public  exposure.  The  knowledge  of  the  reactor  staff  in  protection  against  ionizing  radiation,  the  safe  manipulation  of  radiation  sources,  methods  of  measurement,  solution  of  radiation  accident,  and  new  national  and  international  recommendations  are  re-established  every  year.  A  graphical  presentation  is  required  tool  for  it.  The  presentation  reminds  staff  of  basic  procedures  and  underlines  important  changes  in  the  workplace.  It  contains  many  graphs,  figures,  pictures,  tables  and  notices.  The  basic  principles  of  radiation  protection  are  simply  articulate  there.  One  part  is  aimed  at  instructions  in  safety  for  students,  and  visitors  and  work  methods  with  them.
