Description |
|
The Czech State Office for Nuclear Safety (SONS) has implemented Council Directives CD 96/29/EURATOM and CD 97/43/EURATOM into Czech legislation. In accordance with the Law No. 18/1997 Coll. (Atomic Law) and Regulation No. 307/2002 Coll. a systematic supervision on radiation protection has been ensured. The operator must appoint a supervising person. The supervising person must have a special professional competence, which takes into account the ionizing radiation sources and job profile. Regulation No. 146/1997 Coll. defines the requirements on education, experience, the forms of training and the procedure for verifying the special professional competence. Since new regulation came into effect, the licensee must engage a medical physicist in the radiotherapeutic units and therapeutic units of nuclear medicine and from January 2007 a medical physicist has to be engaged in diagnostic activities in medicine. The Law No. 96/2004 Coll. of Ministry of Health defines the requirements on the education and professional training for medical physicists. SONS is preparing a new Regulation “Mutual recognition of acquired competence of radiation protection experts”. The aim is to remove the obstacles to the mobility of these “experts” within the EU.
