exciting social programme that will not only show some of
the highlights in Rauma but also allow the delegates to connect
with one another and share experiences in informal surroundings.
The social events are included in the registration fee.
Guided walking tour of
Old Rauma
A
guided walking tour to discover the best sights of Old
Rauma, a UNESCO World Heritage Sight, will be organised
on Sunday 17 September 2006. The tour will start at
15.00 to end at 17.00. The meeting point will be advised
at a later stage.
Old Rauma is a 5 to 10 minute
walk from the three conference hotels.
Welcome Reception |
|
Rauma’s prosperity has always come
from the sea – in particular, sea trade. For example,
Rauma is today Finland’s largest export paper port.
It is therefore appropriate to start TopSeal with a Welcome
Reception at the Maritime Museum on Sunday 19 September,
19.00-20.30. The museum is housed in the formal maritime
school, built in 1900. The delegates will have the opportunity
to visit
|
the exhibits which show
the seafaring history of Finland, and try the navigation
simulator.
The Maritime Museum is located at Kalliokatu
34 just outside Old Rauma opposite the Kalliohovi
Hotel, one of the three conference hotels, and a
5 and 10 minute walk from the other two hotels.

Dinner offered by TVO and POSIVA
On Monday 18 September, TVO and POSIVA
invite to delegates to a dinner at Vuojoki Mansion. The
house was built in 1836 and is a fine example of the Finnish
Empire style. At one time, the Vuojoki estate covered over
13.000 hectares which made it the second largest estate
in Finland. The mansion was beautifully renovated in 2004
and 2005 by the municipality and TVO. The TopSeal dinner
will be held in the four drawing rooms on the first floor
– an unforgettable setting.
Vuojoki Mansion is located halfway
between Olkiluoto and Rauma. A bus transfer will
be arranged from Olkiluoto after the technical sessions,
and back to Rauma after the dinner.

Conference Dinner
The Conference Dinner on Tuesday
19 September will allow the delegates to discover the cosy
inside of one of the wooden buildings in Old Rauma, the Poselli
Cultural Centre. The Centre was built in 1885 as a ceremonial
hall for religious gatherings. The entire building, both inside
and outside, is made of wood – as all buildings in Old
Rauma.
The dinner will start at 20.00.
The Poselli Cultural Centre
is located at Posellinkatu 1 in Old Rauma, a 5 to 10 minute
walk from the three conference hotels.
