Dose coefficient

Factors determining the radiation exposure of individual
organs and the whole body by incorporated radioactive substances. Dose
factors depend on the radionuclide, the incorporation type (inhalation/ingestion),
the chemical compound of the radionuclide and on the age of the person.
In the Federal Gazette No. 160a and b dated 28th August 2001, the dose
factors (dose coefficients)are listed in detail for members of the public
and for occupationally exposed persons. They indicate the dose in 24
organs or tissues and the effective dose for inhaled or ingested activity
of 1 Becquerel.
