Geiger-Müller counter

Radiation detection and measuring device. It consists
of a gas-filled tube which contains two electrodes held at a potential
of > 1000 volts. An electric discharge takes place between the electrodes
in the tube when it is penetrated by ionizing radiation. The discharges
are counted and signify a measure for the radiation intensity.
