Versuchsatomkraftwerk (experimental nuclear power plant) Kahl/Main, boiling water reactor with an electric gross output of 16 MW. Nuclear commissioning took place on 13th Nov. 1960. VAK was the first nuclear power plant in the Federal Republic of Germany. End of November 1985 it was finally put out of operation. On 24th Sept 2010 decommissioning was completed. The cumulated power generation amounted to 2.1 TWh.
