Technical Visit
On Wednesday 22nd of March 2017 PIME delegates will have the possibility to participate in one of two technical tours.
Technical visit I
PIME delegates will have the opportunity to visit COVRA’s facilities and get an inside in its activities with regard to the collection, treatment and long-term storage of radioactive waste as well as for the preparation and eventual implementation of disposal.
The building for high level waste storage, the so-called HABOG facility, and the newly constructed storage building for depleted uranium are not only technical buildings engineered for safe storage, but also a communication instrument and a work of art.

Technical visit II
URENCO enriches uranium for electricity and stable isotopes for medical, research and industrial purposes. In an interactive session PIME delegates will learn everything about URENCO and its activities. Colleagues from URENCO will take PIME delegates on a tour of the Dutch facility and show the inside of the uranium enrichment plant and the enrichment facilities at the Stable Isotopes department. Note: participants of this tour need to be able to walk stairs.
ATTENTION: a bus transfer from Middelburg to Amelo, the town next to URENCO’s facilities will be organized on Tuesday 21 March after the closing of the conference. Participants of the technical tour to URENCO should book an overnight stay at the Theater hotel in the city center of Almelo: https://www.theaterhotel.nl/.
The tour will finish on Wednesday 22nd March after lunch and a bus transfer to Schipol airport will be organized. From there national and international flight and train connections are available. Please consider for your travel arrangements that the bus is scheduled to arrive at 4 pm at Schipol airport.

The maximum size of each group is limited and participation is on a first-come, first-served basis.
