Access

Train
There are four key train stations in Manchester city centre - Deansgate, Piccadilly, Oxford Road and Victoria. Of these, Piccadilly attracts the most visitors' and is the main arrival point into the city centre.

From the airport, trains to the city centre run every 15 minutes into Piccadilly train station; the average journey time is 20 minutes. Alternatively you can jump into a taxi to the city centre.

Bus
A comprehensive network of buses offer frequent services to many destinations.

Metroshuttle
When in the city centre, you can hop on one of the Metroshuttle buses. These are free and link to all the main rail stations, shopping districts and businesses in the city centre. Metroshuttle operates from 7am - 7pm Monday to Saturday and 10am - 6pm on Sundays and runs approximately every 10 minutes. The Metroshuttle can take you from car parks, stations and tram stops around the city centre's main attractions.

Road
Manchester's ring road connects Manchester to motorways north, south, east and west. You can download maps to help find your way around the city centre and beyond.

Parking

Tram
Manchester's Metrolink tram system has been developed to encourage easier and faster travel in the city centre and beyond. Connecting all major railway stations and tourist attractions, the Metrolink runs every five minutes, making it the perfect mode of transport for those who don't require a strict timetable. Trams run from the early morning until late in the evening; don't forget to purchase your ticket from the machine at the platform before you board.

On foot
Walking is the easiest way to get around. Manchester is easily explored on foot, with plenty of pedestrian-only zones.  It is possible to traverse the main central locations within around 20-minutes, end-to-end.
