Communicating at PIME

Bringing together nuclear communicators: Defining tomorrow's vision of nuclear

PIME is THE annual gathering point for professional nuclear communicators from around the world. It is a unique international event which has grown in value and in stature year after year. Various factors haveontributed to PIME's continuing success story - a programme addressing the essential issues of the moment, a line-up of quality speakers and ample opportunities for information sharing and discussion.

PIME is simply a 'must' for all nuclear public information specialists wishing to develop and share their know-how and explore new strategies.

Objectives of the PIME conferences

  • To bring together communications specialists at an international level – a unique opportunity to share experiences and to network

  • To make PIME a real learning experience among peers. In a conscious move away from the 'show and tell' style of many conferences, a greater use of round-tables and/or workshops allows for an even more fruitful exchange of views and experiences in order to help each participant in dealing with his or her own local communication issues

  • To give PIME participants a chance to gain knowledge from outside the industry and to give them the advantage of fresh perspectives by inviting speakers from outside the nuclear industry

  • Most of all….to shape tomorrow's vision of nuclear.

PIME conference programmes

PIME conferences are a two and a half-day combination of plenary presentations in the morning and a series of round-tables and workshops in the afternoon. Plenary speakers include experts from non-nuclear sectors such as officials from the EU institutions, communications executives from major industries, or university researchers or members of learned societies. These individuals are invited specifically to offer fresh perspectives and to avoid "talking to ourselves". A visit to nuclear facilities is organised on the last day of conference.

The PIME programme includes presentations on communication challenges and tools, crisis communications, media relations, communicating with stakeholders, public acceptance, visitor centres, security communications, waste and sustainable development, case studies - and much more. Contributions are warmly welcomed. For conditions, please consult the PIME 2005 webpage.

Information material exchange

PIME provides space to display printed material and facilities to show videos, CD-ROMs and DVDs. Internet access will also be available. Please feel free to contact us with a proposal.

Social programme

PIME conferences start with a welcome cocktail on the evening of the registration day. A perfect opportunity to meet both old and new friends!

The PIME conference dinner table allows the participants to share even more good stories and enjoy local cuisine in an attractive venue.
