Training Radio Isotope General Atomic Reactor Casaccia1 - TRIGA
Built in 1960 in its first version with 100 kW power as part of the U.S. Atom for Peace initiative, in 1963 its power was upgraded to 1 MW based on the ENEA staff design. It was used as:
• training tool for Italian knowledge on neutron physics and nuclear engineering
• source of neutron production for irradiation in support of material science, biology and for the development of radio pharmaceuticals.

TAPIRO
The Nuclear Research Reactor TAPIRO (Italian acronym for “TAratura PIla Rapida a potenza 0”) is a fast neutron source. TAPIRO provides a family of neutron spectra of
extremely variable hardness, most suitable to many reactor metrology applications: benchmark experiments in order to validate neutronic codes; neutron activation analysis; investigation of fast neutron radiation damage; testing of innovative detectors; training and education. Potential users: universities and research laboratories involved in nuclear and medical fields; nuclear power and nuclear components industries.
