Agencies of the European Community
The European Centre for the Development of
Vocational Training (Cedefop), located in
Thessaloniki, Greece, is the EU's reference centre for vocational education
and training. It provides information and analyses of vocational education
and training systems, policies, research and practice. Cedefop was established
in 1975 and its information, research and dissemination activities support
vocational education and training specialists to develop and improve
education and training in Europe. Its activities are grouped into four
areas: research, reporting, exchanges, and information and communication:

The European Training Foundation (ETF),
located in Torino, Italy, supports the reform of vocational training
in partner countries within the context of European Union external relations'
programmes such as Tacis and Phare Programmes and translates EU policy
into training and labour market instruments for third countries. ETF
offers insight into political, social and economic dimensions, in-depth
know-how and experience in labour market lifelong learning, and competence
in transferring expertise in EU external relations. EFT works with over
40 countries: the Mediterranean partners, Balkans, NIS and Mongolia:

The European Environment Agency (EEA),
located in Copenhagen, Denmark, has been operational since 1994. Its
mission is to collect, prepare and disseminate timely, targeted, relevant
and reliable information on the state and trends of the environment
at Europeanlevel. The founding regulation of EEA stipulates that it
is open to countries that do not belong to the European Union but share
its concern for the environment. Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway have
been members from the start and EEA was the first EU body to welcome
the then candidate countries as members. The Agency also co-operates
actively with other relevant bodies and international organisations:

The European Union Agency for Network and Information Security
(ENISA), based in Heraklion, Greece,
is aimed to assisting the Community in ensuring particularly high levels
of network and information security by development of a culture of network
and information security for the benefit of EU citizens, consumers,
enterprises and public sector organisations. ENISA'stasks are focused
on collecting and analysing data on security incidents and emerging
risks, co-operating with different players, raising awareness and promoting
risk assessment methods and best practices, and tracking the development
of standards for products and services on Network Information Society:
