    VTT Graduate School

The target of VTT Graduate School is to increase the number of international PhD students and post-doc researchers working at VTT. A collateral goal is to support these researchers in carrying out PhD studies in conjunction with normal project work. As VTT does not provide PhDs, VTT Graduate School works in close collaboration with national graduate schools and universities in general. PhD work is done for four consecutive years under professional scientific supervision by highly experienced and competent senior researchers with PhD degrees.

For students: Every year VTT hires dozens of students with diverse educational backgrounds to work as trainees or thesis workers. The duration of a traineeship typically varies from a few months to a year. While completing your Master’s thesis you will get the full support of the experts in your research team and beyond, enabling a high level scientific approach.

  2. Helsinki Institute of Physics

The Helsinki Institute of Physics is a physics research institute that is operated jointly by the University of Helsinki, Aalto University, the University of Jyväskylä, the Lappeenranta University of Technology, and the Tampere University of Technology. The research activity at the institute covers an extensive range of subjects in theoretical physics and experimental subatomic physics. The mandate of the institute is to carry out and facilitate research in basic and applied physics as well as in physics research and technology development at international accelerator laboratories. The institute is responsible for the Finnish research collaboration with CERN.

  3. Academy of Finland

The Academy of Finland’s mission is to finance high-quality scientific research, act as a science and science policy expert, and strengthen the position of science and research. The Academy works to contribute to the renewal, diversification and increasing internationalization of Finnish research. Its operation covers the full spectrum of scientific disciplines. The Academy supports and facilitates researcher training and careers in research.
