  1. National Institute for Nuclear Science and TechnologyINSTN, Saclay

    As a part of the CEA (French Atomic Energy Commission), the National Institute for Nuclear Science and Technology (INSTN) is a higher education institution under the joint supervision of the Ministries in charge of higher Education and Industry.

  2. The French Atomic Energy Commission – CEA

    The CEA is the French Atomic Energy and Alternative Energies Commission. It is a public body established in October 1945 by General de Gaulle. A leader in research, development and innovation, the CEA mission statement has two main objectives: To become the leading technological research organization in Europe and to ensure that the nuclear deterrent remains effective in the future.

    CEA has a PhD Programme in Nuclear Energy field

    To the young scientists is given the opportunity they can prepare their thesis in close relationship with their own University. The students can benefit from various types of financing their PhD programme for three years long. CEA offers the young scientists the training and courses during the PhD programme.

  3. Authority of the nuclear safety (DSIN)

    The French Safety Authority is tasked, on behalf of the state, with regulating nuclear safety in order, to protect the workers, patients, the public and the environment in France. It also contributes to informing the public.

    The Authority is responsible for:

  • training the drivers of vehicles transporting radioactive materials (class 7 dangerous goods);

  • organising safety adviser examinations for transport of dangerous goods by road, rail or navigable waterway;

  • certifying the conformity of packaging designed to contain 0.1 kg or more of uranium hexafluoride (initial and periodic checks);

  • issuing type approval for tank-containers and mobile tanker units intended for transport of class 7 dangerous goods by road;

  • Initial and periodic checks on tankers intended for the transport of dangerous goods.
