The Jožef Stefan Institute is the leading Slovenian research organisation. It is responsible for a broad spectrum of basic and applied research in the fields of natural sciences and technology. The staffs of around 850 specialize in research in physics, chemistry and biochemistry, electronics and information science, nuclear technology, energy utilization and environmental science.

Nuclear Training Centre of Institute Jožef Stefan
Courses are for technical personnel of the Nuclear Power Plant that need to understand basic nuclear technology. It consists of two parts. In first four weeks we teach necessary theory:
- nuclear and reactor physics
- thermal-hydraulics and heat transfer
- radiation protection
- electrical engineering
- materials
- nuclear safety
During the second four weeks we teach basics about the important technological systems of the Krško NPP.

Reactor Centre Podgorica
Reactor Centre near Podgorica village was built by Jozef Stefan Institute in 1966. The reactor was delivered by General Atomics. Several departments and research groups were grown since that time, to raise nuclear technology knowledge.

Krško Nuclear Power Plant provides plant-specific training courses for their employees and subcontractors. The standard training programs are:

Initial training of Krško NPP operational staff (main control room operators, local operators)

Training of Krško NPP’s maintenance staff (electrical, mechanical, instrumentation)
